In VGT‘s Opening 2010 event that boasted 19 past and present Canadian Tour members, Hazelmere’s Phil Jonas put together a stellar round of 67 (-5) to oust 2009 VGT Order of Merit Champion Bryn Parry by two shots. Both Jonas and Parry made the turn at 4-under par, but it was Jonas’ steady play on the back nine that gave him the victory and vaulted him into an early lead in VGT‘S 2010 CLEVELAND/SRIXON ORDER OF MERIT with 1,500 points. Jonas took home $1,400 for his fine play and Parry $1,000 for his runner-up finish. Parry was quoted as saying he gave a handful of shots away on the course. A costly 3-putt from 3 feet on #3 spurred Parry on to go 5-under his next four holes. However, a costly double-bogey on the par-5 #13th from the middle of the fairway de-railed his chances to win.
