impressive round of 65 for a one shot victory
over Redwoods Professional Doug Morgan. Zibrik’s
round of 8 birdies and a bogey was rewarded with
a $2,000 first place cheque and 1,500 points on
the CLEVELAND/SRIXON Order of Merit.
Seymour Creek’s Bryn Parry

enough for 850 points and $1,100.

dominated the Championship field at Guildford
with a score of 67 for his 4th victory in just 8

late double bogey on the 16th kept him from
going lower. Yardley’s win pushed him almost
2,500 points ahead of his next challenger Derek
Wray leading up to the Vancouver Open

Congratulations to VGT Team Member Holly Pearson
for winning the 2010 McCleery Women’s Club

into the event with a 21 handicap factor, VGT’s
Holly Pearson defied all odds this weekend at
McCleery as she followed up her personal best
round of 77 last weekend with an 86 this Sunday
to capture the Overall Gross Title of the 2010
McCleery Women’s Club Championship by one shot.
Congratulations on your huge victory Holly and
for continuing to believe in yourself and your
game the past two weeks! You make us all proud

VGT HAZELMERE
CLASSIC
After
playing flawless golf thru the first 16
holes at -3 for the day, 18 year old
Pitt Meadows Junior Member Andrew
Rasmussen seemed like he was in the
clear to win his first VGT event.
However, after a triple bogey on 17 and
a bogey on 18, Rasmussen closed with a
score of 73 and looked like his chance
at the title was in jeopardy. One of
VGT’s most consistent Amateurs in 2010
David Cao was half way through the turn
at +1 and Rasmussen waited patiently to
see if his score would hold up or not.

GOLDEN EARS
INVITATIONAL
After three consecutive
birdies (by both players) on the first
three playoff holes, Canadian Tour
Professional
Ryan
Williams
outlasted VGT’s Matt Makinson by
making a fourth consecutive birdie to
take the title as Champion of the 2010
Golden Ear’s Invitational. Williams
certainly showed everyone this year that
he is a force to be reckoned with on the
Canadian Tour with his play on Sunday,
birdying five holes in a row on the back
nine to get him into contention and
eventually win the event. His two day
total of 69, 68 (-7) earned him a cheque
for $2,200 and edged him up to 3rd place
on the CLEVELAND/SRIXON Order of
Merit with 6,875 points for the year
after playing in 9 of 14 VGT events.
Williams sits behind 2nd place Phil
Jonas (8,600 pts) and 1st Place Bryn
Parry (13,433) with only two events to
decide who will win the coveted $5,000
U.S. PGA Tour Qualifying School entry.

birdie-birdie finish, VGT and Canadian Tour

Adam Hadwin finished t37th at this year’s
RBC Canadian Open and was awarded the Rivermead

ranks since turning pro on the Vancouver Golf
Tour in 2009. After a strong ’09 season on the
Vancouver Golf Tour (winning 3 times and
tying 2nd on the Cleveland/Srixon Order of
Merit) Hadwin’s confidence continued to rise
through the winter where he won another event
down south on the All American Tour and another
on the Gateway Tour that earned him a $12,000
prize of free entries on their winter schedule.
More success and confidence came on the Gateway
winter tour, and Hadwin was off to the Canadian
Tour spring Q-school to gain membership for the
2010 season.

VGT MAYFAIR LAKES
CLASSIC

Despite
the wet weather, Mayfair Lakes proved no match for one of its
own as amateur David Cao captured his first title of the 2010
season. On this day Cao found himself not only battling 63 other
competitors, but often battling the changing weather too. After
finishing with a solid round of 68, Cao was headed for a
play-off against recent VGT Swan-e-set Champion Kris Yardley who
finished his round birdie-eagle for the tie. Although Cao carded
four birdies in regulation, his most important one would come in
the second play-off hole.

42 pros to capture his first VGT tournament victory in 2010. The
29 year-old Surrey resident carded 8 birdies throughout the
round, besting fellow Canadian Tour veteran Darren Griff,
rookie Can Tour player Adam Hadwin and Seymour Creek

2010 VGT Amateur
Spring Championship

It’s
been a long time since many locals have heard
Kris Yardley’s
name in the winner’s circle in golf. So long that Yardley
himself attested to the difficulty of closing out his round
yesterday at the VGT Amateur Spring Championship at
Northview’s Canal Course. Other than an opening bogey on the
1st, Yardley really had it going on the day, carding 5 birdies
over the next seven holes and closing the nine with a solid
score of 33 (-3). After trading off a bogey and birdie on 14 and
15, Yardley stumbled slightly making back-to-back bogeys on 16
and 17 to go back to 1-under par before rallying with a final
birdie on 18 to close out his round. The birdie would prove
critical though, as Yardley edged out VGT’s Order of Merit
leader Adam Cornelson by one shot on the day.

UPDATES FROM ON TOUR
HADWIN CONTINUES HOT STREAK DOWN SOUTH
After successfully qualifying (t5th) through to
2nd Stage of PGA Tour Qualifying School, VGT's
Adam Hadwin flew back to Phoenix for a
well deserved rest before his Nov.18th start at
2nd Stage of Qualifying School. But it wasn’t
long before he got back into competitive form,
tee-ing it up in another mini-tour called the
All American Pro Golf Tour. After a fairly
ho-hum start in round one shooting 72, Hadwin
showed his true form in rounds 2 and 3, firing
scores of 65, 64 to capture his fifth
professional victory this year, good for $4,625
and more importantly a huge boost for his
confidence as the 21-year heads into 2nd Stage
of PGA Q-School.
Hadwin’s great play all year has come from his
ability to hit a lot of greens in regulation and
avoid making a lot of big mistakes during his
rounds. His putting has been very sharp,
ultimately leading to very low scoring. In the
16 VGT tournament rounds he played in 2009,
Hadwin amassed an incredible stroke average of
67.75. He has continued to hold onto these stats
through the 1st round of Q-School and his last
Pro event in Phoenix, shooting -24 over 7 rounds
played. Well done!
THREE VGT PROFESSIONALS
PREPARE FOR 2nd STAGE OF PGA Q-SCHOOL
Along with Morgan Creek's Adam Hadwin
making it through to 2nd stage are VGT's Order
of Merit Champion
Bryn Parry and Bear
Mountain's Stuart Anderson. Parry
qualified right on the number at his site in
Texas after having some difficulties reading the
putting surfaces the first three days. “I
unfortunately heeded some advice from a player I
knew in the practice rounds that made me
interpret there wasn’t much grain to read on the
greens”. “The problem was this player comes from
a region where there is a ton of grain, so his
perspective (seeing no grain) was totally
different from mine where we typically do not
get a lot of grain in our greens”. “By the
middle of round 3 I figured it out that I was
missing a lot of putts because the grain was in
fact playing a bigger role that I was allowing
for”, stated Parry. Some great ball-striking
throughout the week and a putter that finally
caught a bit of fire allowed the 38-year old
North Vancouver Pro to advance to 2nd Stage
where he will be slotted to qualify in Texas
once again.
Anderson made a very solid mark at first stage
this year, shooting final rounds of 67, 67 to
win the qualifying site at San Juan Oaks with a
four round total of -13. Anderson has had his
strongest year out on the Canadian Tour this
year, winning the Desjardins Montreal Open and
placing in the top 10 four times, finishing 5th
on the Can Tour Order of Merit. He was also a
winner on the Vancouver Golf Tour schedule this
year only playing three events, but posted an
incredible stroke average of 67.5 over the 6
rounds he played. Both Hadwin and Anderson have
requested to play at the Oak Valley site for 2nd
stage and will most likely get their choice
given their showing in 1st stage. Anderson will
also head over to China right after the 2nd
Stage of Q-school to represent Canada in the
Omega Mission Hills World Cup with his partner
Graham Delaet. Our three VGT representatives
will be in fine company as a total of 21
Canadians will tee-it-up at 2nd Stage starting
Nov.18th, all looking to join Canada’s newest
PGA Tour member Chris Baryla who gained full
status on the PGA Tour by finishing in the top
25 on the Nationwide Tour this year. VGT would
like to congratulate Chris for all his hard work
in making it to the PGA Tour!!! We also want to
wish all the Canadians a successful campaign in
2nd Stage of PGA Tour Qualifying School!
FIVE CANADIANS ADVANCE TO FINALS OF CHAMPIONS
TOUR Q-SCHOOL
BC’s Jim Rutledge and Ray Stewart
have both successfully qualified through to
Final Stage of PGA Champions Q-School after
placing t4th and 11th place respectively this
week. Both players were qualifying at Mira Loma,
California where the top 16 players advanced to
the Finals, slated for Nov.17-20 in Scottsdale,
Arizona. Quebec’s Yvan Beauchemin and
Ben Boudreau and Ontario's Rod Spittle
will join Rutledge and Stewart in the Final
Stage as they were all successful at their
sites. Beauchemin and Spittle finished 2nd and
t4th respectively at the Milton, Florida site
and Boudreau finishing t11th in Orlando.
VGT's Norm Jarvis and Daryl Stubbs
were not so fortunate with their Q-School bids,
finishing t14th and 29th respectively in Texas
where only 10 spots were available.
All PGA Tour and Champions Tour Qualifying
action can be found online by following
this link .
We will do our best to keep you up-to-date with
all of latest scores from our Canadians in their
bid to reach the PGA Tour and Champions Tour for
