2020 MEADOW GARDENS CLASSIC

Conditions were great and scoring was at a premium on Sunday at the Meadow Gardens Golf club! The field consisted of all amateurs. Who was going to come out on top in each flight?
In the Men’s Championship division Ryan Stolys stole the show in his home course, Meadow Gardens, shooting -1 (71)! Finishing runner-up were JP Kahlert (Meadow Gardens GC) and Jackson Jacob (Northview Golf & CC) with scores of (E) par 72.

Tina Jiang from Quilchena Golf & CC beat out her competitors in the Women’s Championship flight en route to a single stroke victory +2 (74)! It was a close finish as one of the runner-up Katherine Hao from Point Grey & CC made a crucial bogey on the par 3 17th then could not capitalize on the final par 5 18th hole to tie the lead. Angela Arora (Beach Grove GC) and Michelle Liu also tied at +3 (75).
Women’s Championship Flight Winner Tina Jiang
In Flight A, Louis (Jungyeol) Choi from his home course shot E (72) to comfortably win over Raj Singh from South Pacific Golfers Association who scored a +5 (77). There is nothing you can do when Louis Choi does this on the back-nine! He stood at +4 until a five under stretch from holes 10-15! 5 birdies in 6 holes, sublime golf.
Nawid Niyaz from BC Golf Vancouver Region came out on top in Flight B with an +8 (80) score. A final hole triple bogey was still good for a 3 shot win over Andy Banks from BC Golf South Fraser Region who couldn’t make up any ground on the final few holes
Junior player Claudia Zhang from Seymour Golf & CC defeated fellow junior and Seymour member Grace Aoting Yao in the Women’s a/b flight by a single stroke at +6 (78)! It was a disappointing finish for Grace who made back-to-back bogies on the final two holes to lose by 1 shot!

In Senior flight, guess who took the title again? You got it! Jim Zalusky from South Pacific Golfers Association has taken another title with a final score of +8 (80)! The man is on a tear right now! We can’t even count how many wins he has on the summer tour this year. Bravely challenging Jim was Matt Fahey from Marine Drive GC who finished 2nd at +9 (81). A nice birdie on 16 brought him one shot back of the lead but two pars on 17 and the par 5 18th ended his chances. Congratulations Jim Zalusky once again and congratulations to all the winners!!
