It was a memorable day during the 2020 Sonic Transport Open at Pagoda Ridge. From a hole-in-one to impressive come backs on the final 9 holes, our players put on a show in another sold-out field! Weather conditions were cloudy throughout the day, but with little wind, players were going low.

In the Men’s Championship flight, it was 15-year-old Ethan Posthumus from Meadow Gardens GC who stole the show! It started off an even battle with Jacob Vanderpas heading to the back nine. After a bogey on 12, Ethan went on an incredible 5-under stretch of 3 holes that included a birdie, hole-in-one, and eagle on holes 13-15!! What can you say, it was Ethan’s day! A stretch of holes that even a PGA tour pro would be delighted to have on their scorecard. With a final birdie on 18, Ethan won his second VGT summer tour event with a 4-stroke victory, finishing with a 65 (-7) total!

Euna Han from Swan-e-set Bay Resort was center stage in the Women’s Championship division. Down by a stroke on the back nine, Euna made a late charge and took home her 3rd summer tour victory of the year by 3 strokes with a score of 66 (-6) over Yeji Kwon, Angela Arora and Emma Yang. In the Women’s A/B division, Candice Chan from Richmond CC had a sizeable lead, finishing at (+5) 77 with Connie Hang and Claudia Zhang in a tie for second at (+14).

It was the battle of the Michaels in Flight A and Michael Blundell from BC Player’s Club took home the victory shooting 72 (E), edging out runner-up Michael Seeley by a single shot.

Andy Banks from BC Golf South Fraser Region came out on top in Flight B with a 74 (+4) score with Ben Dowell ending up in second with 79 (+7).
