PGA TOUR Star Adam Hadwin to play the Vancouver Open – Canada Day Long Weekend!
For the PGA TOUR’s Greenbrier Event, the floods in West Virginia could not have come at a worst time. But for the Commissioner of the Vancouver Golf Tour and this week’s Vancouver Open, it was (pardon the pun) a perfect storm. With the Greenbrier Classic cancellation and Adam Hadwin already flying home to see family, it made it possible for the 2nd year PGA Tour player to consider giving back to his roots and play the VGT’s flagship event he once (sorry, twice) won back in 2010 & 2011.
“Already Adam’s presence in the event is causing quite a stir” stated VGT Commissioner Fraser Mulholland. “This is such great news for the BC Golf Community to have the opportunity to watch one of Canada’s hottest Pro golfer in action in their back yard. It really shows how classy a guy Adam is”.
“It really wasn’t a tough decision for me” stated Hadwin up at Ledgeview Tuesday night. “With the Greenbrier Classic not on the rotation and my decision already not to play the Barracuda Championship this week, it gave me 3 weeks off. The Vancouver Open will be a good opportunity for me to stay sharp and get prepared for the balance of the PGA Tour schedule”.
Hadwin is set to tee-off at 8:30am this Friday at Ledgeview Golf Club in first round action of the 2016 Vancouver Open. He’s paired up with Bear Mountain’s Riley Wheeldon and 2015 VGT Order of Merit Winner Kevin Stinson and expected tee-time for round 2 on Saturday will be approximately 12:30pm.
