Dear VGT Community,
It sadens me to pass on the news I received today that one of our long-time VGT amateur members and good friend of mine Phil Riley passed away last Thursday after a battle with Cancer and treatment since last year.
Phil was a very fun man to hang out with and share stories with, which I had many an occasion to share with in the past 20 or so years since we first met. Phil joined me on quite a few pro-am events and golf trips that I hosted and was always a huge supporter of me personally as a Touring Pro, Teaching Pro and anything to do with VGT.
And on more than one occasion I can say for sure I owe it to Phil for keeping me loose and smiling and playing some of my best golf when he caddie for me, most notably when WE successfully qualified on the ‘Monday’ for the 2002 AIR CANADA CHAMPIONSHIP at Northview.
Some of the greatest memories I have in golf come from that day and the whole week out on the PGA TOUR. I will forever be greatful and never forget the times we shared!
Thanks buddy!
I am sure a number of you had the pleasure of playing with Phil whether it be on the VGT or otherwise and I am sure you would attest he was just a super guy all around both on and off the golf course.
Phil’s celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday, July 4th at 1pm at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club at 3811 Pt. Grey Road in Vancouver if anyone would like to attend.
Otherwise please feel free to leave a message paying your respects in the comment box below.
I know he will be greatly missed by many.
Rest in Peace Phil! We’ll all miss you!
