“Soo Bin Kim Seals 2nd VGT Win at Hazelmere Classic”
Tournament Recap
Twenty-one year old Coquitlam native SooBin Kim rolled to a 2-shot victory at VGT’s 20th stroke play Championship of the year this Sunday at Hazelmere Golf Course. Kim has come off a remarkable season as a Junior with the UW Huskies Golf Program, not only setting the lowest stroke average ever in Huskies history, but she went on to win her 2nd Division 1 tournament along the way.
Back in May Kim finished tied for Low amateur on the Canadian Women’s Tour event at Morningstar with a tie for 4th finish overall and topping all but 3 of the top Professionals in the field. Results like this have obviously given Kim tons of confidence when it comes to playing on the VGT leading to her 2nd win as an amateur on the VGT.
Kim plans to play VGT’s next couple of events at Squamish Valley and Mayfair Lakes in preparation for the remainder of her 2014 season.
In Flight A competition two players battled it out for top spot with scores of 74. When the tie was broken, it was Redwoods Golf Course’s Noah Lee who prevailed over Daniel Cho. Lee would also take home a BIG MAX push cart for his victory while Cho would win a pair of TW14 Nike Golf Shoes. Overall Net score went to Brad Heath, his 2nd Net victory in the A flight this year.
In Flight B, with 28 players in the field, Taylor Johnson prevailed with the Low Gross Score of 78 to win top prize of a Bushnell V3 “JOLT” Rangefinder. Low Net score went to Robert Parihar with a 68, good enough for a Cleveland 588 RTX Wedge.
