Chilliwack Golf Club Set to Host Annual Men’s Open July 19 to 20, 2014
British Columbia’s top players to compete for $10,000 purse and prizes
(Chilliwack, B.C.) – Chilliwack Golf Club home to the PGA of B.C.’s 2013 Golf Facility of the Year, along with presenting sponsors: Langley Concrete Group and Alpine Valley, gear up for the 2014 Chilliwack Men’s Open Golf Tournament July 19-20. The annual Chilliwack Men’s Open draws many of British Columbia’s most notable players in the game year after year – adding to the club’s premier status of playing host to every major Provincial Championship.
“We anticipate this year’s Chilliwack Men’s Open to be one of our most successful tournaments to date,” said Chilliwack Golf Club’s General Manager, Bryan Ewart. “We are taking some of our iconic staples like the Sleeman’s Beer Garden and BBQ and the 15th hole Grandstand and revamping them to include prizes for both the fans and players. This year’s roster also includes notable players like two-time Big Break participant and founder of Kikkor Golf, James Lepp, Jared Rempel, Luke Bogdan and 2013 defending champion, Bryn Parry, who shot rounds of 63, 72 and won in a playoff over current Web.com player, Adam Hadwin, last year.”
“It’s always exciting to come back as the defending champion in any tournament,” said Bryn Parry. “The Chilliwack Men’s Open always has a great field, and I’m looking forward to playing with these guys again. The fans are always amazing here too.”
For the 200 competing players, the weekend lineup will include:
- New redesigned 13th hole
- New golf course routing
- New 15th hole KP (closest to the pin) challenge (sponsored by Cactus Club)
- Friday Horse Race
- First place grand prize total of $2,000
- $500 bonus for Chilliwack Golf Club pro winner
- Four amateur flights
Fans will also have an opportunity to win free beer and hot dogs through Chilliwack Golf Club’s Facebook Photo Contest during the two-day tournament. Other prizes include a price reduction on Sleeman’s Beer each time a player hits the green on the 15th hole and a chance to win four free rounds of golf with carts.
The tournament’s featured group, including James Lepp of Abbotsford, BC, Luke Bogdan, of Abbotsford, BC, Bryn Parry, of North Vancouver, BC and local favorite, Jared Rempel, Director of Golf at Chilliwack Golf Club, is set to tee off on Saturday morning at 7:30 AM. Fans and spectators are welcome and encouraged to take in the action on both Saturday and Sunday, there are no entrance fees.
Sponsorship opportunities are currently available for the 2014 Chilliwack Men’s Open and other major provincial events.
