Tournament in Review
The 31st Annual Hadassah Wizo Charity Pro-am proved once again to be a wonderful collaboration of BC’s top Professional golfers paired with corporate golfers of the lower mainland where an amazing experience was shared on one of Canada’s Premier Private Golf Club’s, Richmond Country Club.
With pristine golf course conditions once again, Richmond Country Club shined its true colors for the 31st straight year in this, the longest standing Pro-am in BC. The superb course conditions and swirling winds proved to be a genuine test for all 24 Professionals and 96 Amateurs in the event. Firm and fast greens along with some testy pins made positioning in the fairway and on the greens a premium.
At the end of 18 holes, Canada’s #1 Ranked Club Professional Bryn Parry of Seymour Creek Golf Center proved why he is the best, carding a fantastic round of 67 (-5), good for the $2,000 Winner’s Cheque, making it his 2nd consecutive win on the VGT and 3rd win in 3 weeks including his NATIONAL TITLE at the PGA of CANADA Championship. He ousted VGT Tour Player Chris Lee (former WEB.COM player) by one shot and 2 shots over VGT Professional Dean Walters. Lee and Walters collected $1,400 and $1,200 respectively for their fine play.
The top 11 Pros and ties in the field were paid out in the individual Professional competition, and the pros leading their teams to the top 5 spots in the Pro-am competition also collected a bonus cheque on the day.

The Hadassah Wizo Committee should be extremely proud of themselves, as they have been dedicated to the charity component of this golf event for 31 straight years. Proceeds from this year’s tournament are going to support CHW projects in Israel, benefiting Children, Healthcare and Women; and the Prostate Centre at Vancouver General Hospital.
VGT is proud to have been a part of the Pro-am through its Live Scoring services and helping bring some of BC’s Premier Golf Professionals into the field of this historic event. The event has hosted many top Professionals in its past such as Richard Zokol, Bryn Parry, Phil Jonas and Adam Hadwin – all who have played multiple events on the Canadian Tour, WEB.COM Tour and PGA TOUR.
“We will have the honor of cheering on both Bryn and Adam next week as they play in the 2013 RBC Canadian Open at Glen Abbey” stated VGT Commissioner Fraser Mulholland. “And we will be watching the coverage overseas with great interest where past Hadassah Wizo Pro-am Champion Phil Jonas will be representing VGT and the PGA of BC in the SENIOR BRITISH OPEN at Royal Birkdale next week!”
VGT has a total of 4 Pros who have played our tour (and counting) tee-ing it up at the Canadian Open next week (Eugene Wong, Riley Wheeldon, Roger Sloan). GO VGT PROS!!
“We are extremely grateful of the partnership we have formed with the Hadassah Wizo Pro-am over the past 6 years” states VGT Commissioner Fraser Mulholland. “The event is so well organized and our Professionals really appreciate the special touch having a walking scorer with each group. The Hadassah Wizo Pro-am is a unique event in that it serves not only as a huge fundraising opportunity for two great charities as well as helping promote the development of BC’s local Professional golfers who are aspiring to reach greater heights with their games” states VGT Commissioner Fraser Mulholland. “We are excited to continue partnering with the tournament for many years to come to help support the charities involved and pave the path for our local golf stars on their way to the WEB.COM and PGA TOUR”.
