The First Tee of Greater Vancouver YMCA & Vancouver Golf Tour Announce Tournament Partnership for the Million Dollar Hole-in-One Challenge.
VANCOUVER (January 15, 2013)—The First Tee of Greater Vancouver YMCA and the Vancouver Golf Tour are pleased to announce an exciting partnership to grow the game of golf in 2013!
Through this partnership, Vancouver Golf Tour (VGT) will take the role of operations specialists for the 3rd ANNUAL FIRST TEE $1MILLION HOLE-IN-ONE CHALLENGE, working along with The First Tee, YMCA and Vancouver Golf Tour to make the charities’ main fundraising campaign. The $1Million Challenge is slated for June 27th, 2013 at Langara Golf Course, one of Vancouver Parks’ Premier Golf Courses.
“The event promises to be one of Vancouver’s most exciting Charity golf events of the year, not only offering amateur golfers multiple hole-in-one prizes throughout the day, but the chance to play with one of BC’s Top Professional Golfers, Pro-am style” stated VGT Commissioner Fraser Mulholland. “Every hole is turned into a par 3 length bulls–eye shoot out for cash valued $10,000 – $50,000 or KP prize and the ladies and men’s teams with the best scores of the day shoot out for a chance to win $1,000,000!”
“We have been a supporter of The First Tee Greater Vancouver YMCA for the past couple of years – recognizing The First Tee as the charitable recipient of the Vancouver Golf Tour; we are extremely excited to be given the opportunity to partner further with such a first class organization” continued Mulholland. “We believe very strongly in The First Tee’s Mission Statement, which is to impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.
Natalie Wong, Development Coordinator for YMCA Greater Vancouver, states that “The $1MILLION CHALLENGE tournament has been one of the largest fundraisers for The FIRST TEE over the last two years. This partnership with the Vancouver Golf Tour will greatly enhance the event and help us raise money so that every child can gain life skills through the game of golf by participating in The First Tee—regardless of their ability to pay,” says Wong. “Plus, the amateurs will share the day with top caliber professional golfers as they play a unique Par-3 Challenge with numerous Hole-in-one chances on a beautiful Vancouver Parks Golf Course.”
The $1Million Dollar Hole-in-One Challenge will help raise significant funds for The First Tee of Greater Vancouver YMCA, enabling many youngsters the opportunity to enroll in these unique golf programs offered at Rupert Park, Queen Elizabeth Park and Fraserview Golf Course. Amateur golfers will play in a team scramble event while the Professionals will play their own event for an estimated $10,000 prize purse.
