Tournament in Review
Despite a forecast of extreme wet weather, Canadian Tour Professional Ryan Williams (Srixon) found a way to really turn up the heat at Swan-e-set Bay Resort today, site of the 2010 VGT Pro Spring Championship. Williams fired a stellar round of 66 (-6) to beat out a field of 42 pros to capture his first VGT tournament victory in 2010. The 29 year-old Surrey resident carded 8 birdies throughout the round, besting fellow Canadian Tour veteran Darren Griff, rookie Can Tour player Adam Hadwin and Seymour Creek Professional Bryn Parry by one shot.
For his great play, Williams was rewarded with a winner’s cheque of $1,600 as well as this year’s title of the VGT Pro Spring Championship. Griff, Hadwin and Parry did not walk away empty handed, each collecting a cheque for $933.33 in a three-way tie for second. With his second place finish, Parry broke even further ahead as the clear leader of the 2010 Cleveland/Srixon Order of Merit race with 5,983.33 points. Second place in the Order of Merit race remains Northview Professional John Shin with 3,232.50 points.
Special thanks go out to the Swan-e-set Bay Resort and all their staff for allowing us to host our Pro Spring Championship on their fine establishment. Hats off to all the Swan-e-set team members who made this possible, especially Graham Rudd and his Professional Staff, Dennis Mullis and his food and beverage staff and Head Superintendant Kevin Neufeld for primping the Resort Course in spectacular condition!
VGT would also like to pay special thanks to their own team of volunteers and team members for organizing another fantastic event. |
