2010 RBC Invitational Pro-Am
June 16th, 2010
Hazelmere Golf Course
Canadian Tour Professional Stuart Anderson’s first VGT win of the season came at the 2010 RBC Invitational Pro-am hosted at Hazelmere with an impressive round of -7(65). Starting on hole #5 in the Pro-am Anderson birdied his first two holes and his great start would continue throughout the day with another five birdies and ending bogey-free. Anderson walked away with not only the RBC title but with a hefty cheque for $2,000.00. Finishing right behind Anderson with solid rounds of -5(67) were Westwood Plateau Professional Dave Zibrik and Semiamoo Professional Clark MacPherson, who each pocketed $1,300 for their one-day performances.
The Cleveland/ Srixon Order of Merit race is starting to bunch up at the top with Seymour Creek Professional Bryn Parry still in the lead with 6,063 points. With his win Stuart Anderson gained valuable OOM points, now sitting 1,093 points back of Parry and just 70 points ahead of fellow Canadian Tour player James Allenby.
In the team portion of the event, Team 11B, consisting of Pro Bryn Parry, Dave Showman, Jarrod Boddy, Tom Kenny, and Johannes Grames were crowned this year’s 2010 RBC Pro-am Team Champions. Their team card under the scramble format was littered with birdies on every hole with the exception of pars on holes #7, #13 and #14. What a performance, finishing -15(57)! For their fabulous play each team member won Apple i-pads. Tournament runners-up was Team 1A, consisting of Pro Tom Stankowski, Alex Philips, Andrew Pinette, Paul Doherty, and Geoff Glazier. With a score of -10(62) this team also found the course to their liking.
VGT’s sincerest thanks go out to the RBC Dominion Securities branch in Surrey/White Rock for partnering with VGT for a second year in hosting such a prestigious event that brought out an impressive field of Professionals, including many Canadian Tour Professionals (Stuart Anderson, Darren Griff, Tom Stankowski, James Allenby, and Adam Hadwin). With this Pro-am event, RBC Dominion Securities continued their philanthropic efforts, remaining committed to raising substantial funds for the Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation.
VGT would also like to thank the Hazelmere Golf Club for their continued hospitality and great golf course conditions, which suited the likes of many Professionals at this year’s RBC Invitational Pro-am!
