VGT News Release – Monday, July 26th
ADAM HADWIN LOW CANADIAN AT ’10 RBC CANADIAN OPEN
Capping
his first PGA Tour event in style with a
birdie-birdie finish, VGT and Canadian Tour
Member
Adam Hadwin finished t37th at this year’s
RBC Canadian Open and was awarded the Rivermead
Cup for the best score by a Canadian at the
event.
Hadwin has made a tremendous assault up the golf
ranks since turning pro on the Vancouver Golf
Tour in 2009. After a strong ’09 season on the
Vancouver Golf Tour (winning 3 times and tying 2nd
on the Cleveland/Srixon Order of Merit) Hadwin’s
confidence continued to rise through the winter
where he won another event down south on the All
American Tour and another on the Gateway Tour
that earned him a $12,000 prize of free entries
on their winter schedule. More success and
confidence came on the Gateway winter tour, and
Hadwin was off to the Canadian Tour spring
Q-school to gain membership for the 2010 season.
As anyone local can attest to, Adam’s rise in
2010 has been monumental, with his first four
events on the Canadian Tour being so successful
(t9th, t2nd, 2nd, 13th)
that his stellar play earned him spots at both
the Nationwide Tour’s Gretzky Classic where he
finished t27th, and to this year’s RBC Canadian
Open where he was welcomed as Canada’s newest
son in golf! Hadwin fired rounds of 68, 66, 70,
71 to finish t37th in the event and added
another $19,890 to his escalating season
earnings this year. Touted as “Canada’s
Hottest Young Professional” the past 6 months,
Hadwin will be on everyone’s radar the remainder
of the 2010 golf season leading up to the PGA
Tour’s annual
Qualifying
School.
Hadwin will be back to work with his colleagues
on the Canadian Tour starting Aug.9th
at the Clublink Jane Rogers Championship in
Halton Hills, Ontario thru to the Canadian Tour
Championship on Aug.23rd before
heading back to Vancouver to compete for a
$10,000 first place cheque at the 2010 Vancouver
Open (http://www.vancouveropen.ca)
from Sept.9-11th at Vancouver’s 3
Parks Courses – Fraserview, Langara and McCleery.
VGT would like to congratulate Adam on
his tremendous play this year, and especially at
the Canadian Open and wish him all the success
the remainder of the 2010 Canadian Tour
schedule.
