Tournament in Review

amateur David Cao Despite the wet weather, Mayfair Lakes proved no match for one of its own as amateur David Cao captured his first title of the 2010 season. On this day Cao found himself not only battling 63 other competitors, but often battling the changing weather too. After finishing with a solid round of 68, Cao was headed for a play-off against recent VGT Swan-e-set Champion Kris Yardley who finished his round birdie-eagle for the tie. Although Cao carded four birdies in regulation, his most important one would come in the second play-off hole. Using his local knowledge, Cao was able to redeem himself (having come tied for third at the recent Swan-e-set Amateur Championship) and capture the title. For his efforts Cao earns a Cleveland wedge, Never Compromise putter and a dozen Srixon Z-Star balls to add to his playing arsenal. For Yardley’s runner-up performance, he walks away with a Cleveland bag and a dozen Srixon Z-Star balls.

After the Mayfair Lakes event, Vancouver Club’s Adam Cornelson still holds a commanding lead in the
Cleveland/ Srixon Order of Merit with 6,550 points but David Cao and Kris Yardley are both slowly inching their way up the leader board.

In the Flight A division, Pitt Meadows amateur David Grabowski is no stranger to the winner’s circle. By firing a round of 74 Grabowski earns his second Flight A Title of the 2010 season as well as a Cleveland Travel Bag and a dozen Srixon Z-Star balls. Vancouver amateur Stewart Halstead captured Net honours with a round of 72 and wins a Never Compromise Putter and a dozen Srixon Z-Star Balls for his hard work.

In Flight B, Fraserview amateur Raffaello Aquino captures his first division title with his round of 80 to earn $200 in Marketplace IGA GCs and a dozen Srixon balls. North Vancouver's John Vendargon won Net honours with a round of 66 and wins a Cleveland Launcher 3-wood and a VGT towel to dry off from yesterday’s rain.

After yesterday, David Grabowski still leads the Flight A
Cleveland/ Srixon Order of Merit race with 5,533.33 points while Vancouver’s Hector Aguilar heads the Flight B Cleveland/ Srixon Order of Merit race with 4,466.67 points.

Many thanks go out to the Mayfair Lakes staff for hosting our event and continued thanks goes out to the VGT Team for their undying work throughout the year.
