Guildford Golf Course

Guildford Head Professional Dan Swanson played an almost perfect round at Guildford yesterday in the 2010 Guildford Open carding eight birdies for the day. Capitalizing on his local knowledge of the course, Swanson finished at 65(-7) to capture the Guildford Open title two shots ahead of a tight group that was in close chase for most of the day. In the chase group included Can Tour Pro Ryan Williams, Fraserview Pro Mewail Kidane, Shaughnessy Pro Brandan Price, Abbotsford Pro Joshua Taylor and Seymour Creek Professional Bryn Parry. For his impressive play Swanson earned $1,000.00 and critical Order of Merit points in what is turning out to be a much heated 2010 CLEVELAND/SRIXON Order of Merit race.

After the Guildford Open, former Nationwide Tour Player Bryn Parry maintains his lead with 7,733.33 points heading into the summer stretch of the VGT schedule. In close second and third remain Canadian Tour Professionals Stuart Anderson and James Allenby.

In the Amateur portion of the event, Guildford’s own
David Morris carded 70(-2) for the day tying fellow Amateurs Kris Yardley and Jordan Belton, but Morris would go on to capture the Amateur division title under RCGA retrogression guidelines. For their great play each three would walk away with some fabulous Cleveland prizing to add to their playing arsenals. Amateur David Morris was awarded a Cleveland Launcher 3-wood and $100 Marketplace IGA gift cards, while Kris Yardley won a Cleveland golf bag and $50 Marketplace IGA gift cards. Belton won a Cleveland CG15 Zip Groove Wedge and Srixon Z-Star balls.

VGT would like to thank Guildford Golf Club for taking the time to set their golf course up in Championship conditions for the second year on the VGT schedule and we hope this tournament will only flourish in the years to come. Hopefully after seeing the positive changes that have been made to the Guildford course the past few years more golfers will come out to see how good the course has become.

Last thanks go out to the VGT support team who once again put on a great event through the Live Leader board scoring as players made their way through the turn. Great work team!
